I have a 2400/G3/400 with Cardbus enabled.

When I upgraded from 9.0 to 9.0.4, my machine crashed on startup, before the init
parade.
Booting with extensions off didn't change anything, since this was before the
extensions
started to load.

The problem turned out to be caused by the FireWire Enabler.

I had 2.10 installed, and 9.04 comes with 2.3.3.
But since Apple doesn't consider the 2400 to be a machine that supports FireWire,
the updater didn't update these files.

You have to boot off another disk (or do some run-time patching with MacsBug),
and update the files manually.
The files in question are:
        FireWire Support
and FireWire Enabler.

Thanks to Keith Stattenfield for help in solving this one.
