John maybe right; however...

does the machine work in a dock?  would be nice to know if you have the 
option.  and what does it do when you remove the main batt from its bay 
and just run off of A/C?  Give us some more diagnotics -- did you notice 
any PRAM issues before it went south?  Was it losing date/time?  
Appletalk defaulting or other control panel/network settings mysteriously 
reseting to something other than what you wanted?
