DiskTools 1 of the set you downloaded from Apple is a startup disk for the 230. It is
for 68K Macs. You make a startup disk by opening DiskCopy 6.1 or 6.1.3 (I forgot
which) and telling it to make a floppy. It will ask you what source image you want to
use, you point to the DiskTools 1 image of the 7.5.3 set, and then it will prompt you
to insert a disk. Bingo.

Personally I would put the duo in the dock, insert an Install disk into the dock
floppy drive, power up and install a system on the dock hard drive. Then you can look
at the 230 from the dock and run TechTool or DiskWarrior on it. You could also replace
the system from there if you needed to.

Unless, of course, you don't have a hard drive in the dock.

Got an extra SCSI hard drive sitting around? Set it to ID #1, terminate it and put it
into the dock. Now you have an external hard drive and you can go to work to analyze
your Duo.

Unless, of course, you don't have the tricky little twisted cable that runs from the
hard drive to the board in the Dock.

Dang, this can get discouraging.\
