Let me flip over the adapter plugged into the 1400 I'm typing on and take
a look. Output is 24V, 1.87 A, the pin in the middle of the plug is positive
and the cylinder around the outside is negative. I believe I used one of my
1400 adapters to run an iBook for a while when I was troubleshooting for
someone with problems at work.

So to answer your question, yes, you could use a 1400 or iBook or one of
several other adapters to power your 2400 provided the polarity of the
2400 matches.
