It seems like a simple solution would be to repackage an iBook into a sub-notebook format. The iBook is certainly smaller than the G3 PowerBooks but it's still too big for a sub-notebook not to mention it is styled for a different target audience. To achive the nice look and rounded edges of the iBook, as well as provide a larger keyboard, the iBook has a lot of unnecessary plastic (that 12.1" screen "floats" in the middle of the lid). I would bet that the guts could be used without change and the screem could be fitted into an edge-to-edge lid. Then downsize the keyboard to a 2400 or Duo size. Also allow us to swap out the CD-ROM drive for other devices. Fit that between the iBook & PowerBook. It could happen! -Mark -- > From: "Moore, Nathaniel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2000 10:14:39 -0700 > To: Multiple recipients of DuoList <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [Duo] Re: Petition for a ROM upgrade for 2400c > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: > "...we should be concentrating on convincing apple to seriously develop a > very > compact, easy to use, workable g3/g4 powerbook that competes nicely with > Sony's Vaio design." > > I just want to remind everyone that the new product matrix now consists of > six boxes... of which five are filled. > > The three desktops are now iMac, cube, and PMG4. > The three laptops are iBook, ???, PowerBook. > > To accompany the cube, a small, compact, efficient little computer, perhaps > there will be a small, compact, efficient little laptop? > > My pure speculation and unadulterated hype, > > -Nathan ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
