Bushey, [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have a powerbook 2400c( 80mb ram) that I bought a few months ago on eBay. Shortly after arrival it became apparent that the hard drive (1.3gb) was dead. It was taken to my Apple dealer who offered the following 1) send the machine to Apple to replace the drive for $900, or they would replace the drive with a 2gb Toshiba drive for $ 400. I chose the later option. Since the computer has been unable to recognize scsi devices. My external CD cannot mount disks on the desktop nor can my 250mb Zip drive. I was able to put their drivers in the system 8.5 folder with the floppy drive which is functioning. The new hard drive is recognized as by the Apple system profiler as aToshiba (for Apple) 2gb drive HFS, driver 3.1.4. The powerbook itself does not mount on the desktop of my G4 or my old Performa when in scsi mode. Scsi probe 5.1.2 does not mount the scsi devices. My drives work well with the same cables on my other 2400c. My Apple dealer said they could get the Zip and CD to mount by zapping the pram, a feat I have been unable to duplicate. They have said that if the problem persists they must send the unit back to Apple for a new board, cost $900.00. I cannot reinstall my applications without a CD or ability to use the powerbook in scsi mode. My costs are mounting 80mb ram $200, Hard Disk $400, new board $800. and original purchase price $900.
