You don't have to do 'make install' because actually it's just copying
the executable somewhere in you path and not everybody wants to have it
in some system directory /bin or /usr/local/bin ... I personally just copy
it to ~/bin (where I also keep  the latest 10-20 builds). ;-)

You even don't need to copy it,... just create a desktop link to 

<yourdvbcutcheckoutdir>/bin/dvbcut 

and you are executing always your latest  and (hopfully) createst dvbcut build.

PS: BTW,... just found out, to change the URL of a working copy there is a 'svn 
switch --relocate' command...
nevertheless problems may occur if the domain name hasn't changed but only the 
directory, in which case
one can change that manually like posted here:
