Hello,

The package-maint.el is, in fact, dgnushack.el with some
modifications. I tried to understand the code at best as I can but
such issue are directly inherited from dgnushack due to a lack of
understanding.

At that time, I was looking for something like the package management
in XEmacs: a common framework for compiling and installing a lisp
package, generating autoloads, etc.

I wonder if all of this is usefull for the inclusion in Emacs. I'm
not sur that my code to handle dependencies is clean enough, and in
fact I'm always surprise to see it in DVC ;-)
