I'm afraid I didn't pay much attention to the status field, so it was almost random. I've now set all branches to development. The status is supposed to reflect the authors views, so if anybody lets me know their views about this I will gladly change the status of their branch. If you are interested, you can register with launchpad and I will set you as the registrant of your branch so you can change the status.
