After having dug a bit deeper, I now see how that works. I think that
was partly a problem of the manual, since it suggested using
tla-archives. I will see about updating the manual, though I have to
figure out bzr.

Also, it seems like it should give a nicer error message when a
program is not installed rather than creating an empty buffer.
