Performance are not only about problems ;-). Slow performance is a "problem", but fast performance is good for comfort. The example I like to describe my feeling with git's performance is that: alias ls='sleep .3; ls' alias cd='sleep .3; cd' Try leaving with it for a day, you won't feel a "problem", but you'll definitely feel more comfortable when you remove it.
