DVD+RW/+R for Linux page, http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/, and accompanying tools were updated. Biggest news are support for DVD-R[W] recording (tested with SONY DRU500 and Pioneer DVR-x0[45]).

Note [and respect] that I'm not on this list, but only occasionally browse through the archive. Just spotted couple of questions that apparently need some clarification.

It was implied that my page says that "dvd+rw-tools can't burn DVD-Video." This is false statement. It's perfectly possible to burn DVD-Video with growisofs. The page delibirately abstains from discussing video content *preparation* issues, but it doesn't mean that you can't burn DVD-Video. It's just that you have to use some imagination to figure it out:-)

"New version supports packet recording only for DVD-RW." This is false statement. Packet mode (correct term is actually "Incremental Sequential mode") is defined even for DVD-R and dvd+rw-tools support it for both DVD-RW and DVD-R.

"DVD+ units support 2.4x recording in CAV mode only." This is false statement. DVD+ units record both DVD+RW and DVD+R in CLV mode, 2.4x velocity is maintained accross the whole surface.

Cheers. A.
