I haven't heard the logic for LJ's mascot being a goat, and yet we're all quite fond of Frank, so it doesn't seem that the mascot needs to be related to "dreamwidth" conceptually (but a sheep would be a good try). I would personally prefer an animal to a less animate mascot. Though I wonder if this isn't the sort of thing that arises organically, and if we've jinxed ourselves by discussing it. XD
