Except the talent *is* historically a unit of currency. Same thing with another
neutral-sounding term, "marks." Some people might also not appreciate the
possible Biblical connotations.

I like it. It has the advantage of not specifying what is being measured (pink
ponies, gold coins, dreamstuff) and it sounds vaguely historical.
The history buff in me has been toying with suggesting "talents" because of the
double meaning.
