"Yes, but that doesn't solve the issue of communities that require full
birthdate display for approval of membership.

What would be really nice is, instead of a 'checkbox' or something the user
inputs manually (to prevent those not of age checking the box when they're
not 'of age'); is something that will do an automatic calculation given
entered birthdate information and flagging that way somehow.

I don't know how complex or simple or whatever this type of thing would be,
but it could be useful. Obviously, it doesn't prevent someone from inputing
a false year, but I believe in the TOS it states that doing so can be
grounds for removal from the service.

I don't know too much about programming but can the system be made to
automatically tag the person as adult, by the birth date they use when they
sign up? And then add a blurb in the user info/bio that " user name" is an
adult, of legal age or over 18, over 21 or something like that without
having to reveal the user's entire BD? It would also be great if under age
users could be automatically blocked from accessing adults only journals,
the journal owner could tag their journal adults only in their preferences,
by the system itself. Then there are legal type age safeguards built into
the system, and those not of age would have to lie from the get go if they
can access the journals that are labeled with adult content.

Can a little paragraph with a warning be added to the birthdate at sign up ?
Such as this is a contract, as such it is a legal document. If you
deliberately use false information you are committing perjury. Yadds, yadda,
yadda. I'm not a lawyer either. Just askin'.

Would that be a legal protection for the site also?

I'm not a big fan of any kind of tellling people what they can, or can't,
read or view, write or post, as long as they're a consenting adult. But
there is a law that some things are not to be read or viewed by kids.

So this automatic blocking by sign up BD may not even be possible at all,
just askin'.

And I'm remembering the big Journal deletion dust up of 2007. If something
like that could be headed off at the pass, long before any controversy
started by whomever, it would be great!

But maybe I'm going over old ground, LOL. If that's so then just ignore me
and my babble fest, heh.
