The S2 manual is at: http://www.livejournal.com/doc/s2/ It's not very good, I'm afraid. We do hope to change that. :/ Making themes, on the other hand, will (by the time Afuna and Aveleh and their team are done) mostly just require a good knowledge of CSS -- we'll show the styles and let people design their own CSS stylesheets to alter their display.
