Along the wishlist way, has anyone put thought into the ability to
view posts forward, and post-ID locked, rather than backward? (might
need to be a premium feature, due to the costs incurred in letting
someone go arbitrarily back in their circle, but still) (aplogies if
I've talked about this and forgot)
The uses I see for this are:
Catchup. "Newest-stuff-on-top, go backwards" is great for checking out
the recent stouff in a journal or a frequently checked friends page --
but it's horrid when you skip a weekend and want to start reading
forward; you get everything out of order (sometimes, majorly, as
series of posts come in backwards), and on top of this, any delays in
reading mean your entire frame of reference is pushed out from under
you as new posts arrive, and you have to go back and find your place
again. Far better, here, would be a view that was "locked' to a post
and going foward; that way, you could bookmark (or save in history)
wherever you left off, and then start going fowrward from there.
Fiction journals: while a less continuing issue than catchups, it's
much harder to catch up on a fic or game journal if you have to
navigate to the end of it, and then start reading posts -up-. English
runs right/down, so when reading a series of related posts, we really
want to read them that way too--which isn't ideal when they're
arranged backwards and we want to read them all.
