04/09/2003:  Phil, K4PWS/p, will be at two lighthouses September 4th. Hilton
Head (South Carolina) Rear Range (Lemington) USA ARLHS #972 and Hilton Head
Harbor Town #1135. Phil plans to start between 16:00 and 17:00 UTC at
Lemington. He will work there a few hours and move on to Harbor Town.

04/09/2003:  Ray N6VR, Jim N6KZ, David XE1NTT (N6AN), Roman XE2ED, Hector
XE2K and Emigdio XE2ZY will be active as XF1K from the Todos Santos Islands
(NA-162) September 4th to 7th. They will have three stations on 80 through
10 meter SSB and CW (plus a fourth station for 6 metres and satellite), with
beams, verticals, dipoles and maybe an amplifier. Plans are to be QRV for at

05/09/2003:  Peter, 9V1PC, reports that the Singapore Amateur Radio
Transmitting Society (SARTS) will be holding field day operations from St.
John's Island off the southern coast of Singapore from the afternoon of
Friday, September 5th, to midday Monday, September 8th. Two stations will be
active on 160-10 meters with the special prefix S61FD. The S61FD team will
have two experienced 160/80m operators: Bob Marshall-Read/G4VGO and Peter
Cook/9V1PC. This team will focus on low band operations using an inverted L
for transmit and a variety of loops, pennants and possibly beverages for low
noise receive. They expect that 1kw transmit power should be available. St.
John's Island is in Region 3, IOTA AS-019, CQ Zone 28 and ITU Zone 54. QSL

05/09/2003:  Terry F5SNY and Chris F8BOD plan to be QRV from Kekova Island
(AS-115), Turkey, September 5th and 6th. AS-115 is very difficult to land on
and they only have 2 batteries for 48 hours and vertical ground plane
antenna with 100 W. Note that the dates can change slightly because of bad
weather conditions. The call signs were not given, but will probably be

05/09/2003:  Look for UA0LD, RW0LE and RA0LIA to be QRV as UE0LZZ/p from the
Natural Reserve "Ussurijsky" (RFF-89, for the Russian Flora and Fauna award)

06/09/2003:  Look for Francois, F5JNE/p, to be active from the Chateau de la
Mothe, in Villeneuve l'Archeveque September 6th. In the same area are the
Moulins Banaux (really one mill, instead of the name) are built, so it will
be activated. References for this operation are Castle: DFCF 89242; Canton:
DDCF 8935; Mill: DMF 89023; and Zip Code: 89190. Activity will be on 40

06/09/2003:  IZ2DPX and IW2NEF will be QRV as HB0/IZ2DPX/p and HB0/IW2NEF/p,
respectively, during the IARU Region 1 Field Day (September 6-7). Activity

06/09/2003:  Look for Vanni, IK4RUX/p, and Giuseppe, IZ4CCO/p, to be QRV
September 6th and 7th from Torre Islola di Bergeggi (DCI reference SV-038,
for the Italian Castles Award). This operation also counts for Islola di
Bergeggi (IOTA EU-083, IIA SV-002). They also plan to participate in the
Weekend of the Italian Castles event (September 7th). The Tower of Bergeggi
Island is located in the Region of Liguria, Province of Savona (SV). QSL via

06/09/2003:  The Skandinavisk Radio Club will be QRV as LA3SRK/p from
Stokkoya Island (EU-036), for the IARU Region 1 Field Day (September 6-7).
Activity will be on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. They will

07/09/2003:  Les, G3VQO, will be QRV September 7, 2003, from Moulin de
Gravois (DMF 62.087, for the French Mills Award), close to Boulogne. The
activity will start about 08:00 UTC and the call will be F/G3VQO/p. Les
reports that the majority of activity will be on 40 meter SSB, but look for

national park (RFF-140, for the Russian Flora and Fauna award) between

new reference. Activity will be on weekends, CW and SSB, and also on 2m /

08/09/2003:  Christian, DL6KAC, will be QRV September 8th to October 7th
from Mallorca Island (IOTA EU-004, DIE E-021) as EA6/DL6KAC. Activity will
be on 40 through 10 meters (maybe 80m), mainly SSB. This will be a holiday
style operation but look for some activity in the WAE contest. QSL via DARC

08/09/2003:  Andy, DL8LAS, reports that he will be QRV from Mallorca (IOTA
EU-004, DIE E-021) as EA6/DL8LAS between September 8th to 20th. Activity

08/09/2003:  Look for Geoff, W0CG, to be QRV as PJ2DX from Signal Hill,
Curacao (SA-006) between September 8th and 18th. He plans to participate in
the All Asian DX SSB Contest (September 6-7) and the WAE DX SSB Contest
(September 13-14). Note that this is a working trip to Curacao and his
operation will be on a casual basis. Please do not send mail to Geoff's

09/09/2003:  Dennis, K7BV, will be QRV as VP5/K7BV September 9th through
16th from the Turks and Caicos 'HAM-LET' rental QTH. Six meters will be the
primary focus (including meteor scatter) with active participation in the
ARRL VHF Contest (September 13-14th). There will be HF operating when the 6

10/09/2003:  Peter, OZ4LP, will be QRV September 10th to 15th as JW/OZ4LP

11/09/2003:  Michael, DF3IS, plans to be active September 11th to 25th from
Thassos Island (EU-174) located in the Aegean Sea, in the north of Greece.

12/09/2003:  Look for UA0LD, RW0LE and RA0LIA to be QRV as UE0LZZ/p from the

13/09/2003:  Phil, G3SWH, and his wife will arrive in Madagascar on 13th
September 2003 and will be travelling extensively on the mainland (IOTA
AF-013) until 22nd, when they will fly to Ile Sainte Marie (IOTA AF-090) and
relax for a few days until the 27th. Phil hopes to activate his 5R8HA call
from the mainland whenever he can and will use 5R8HA/p from AF-090, where he
should be more active. Activity will be CW only on all bands 40 to 10
metres. Please remember that this will be a holiday type operation, not a

Passas Lighthouse (WLA LH-0130, ARLHS GRE-104, WW Loc. KM38dm) between
September 15th and 19th. The lighthouse is located near Inousses Island and
counts for IOTA EU-049. They will be using the special call SX8PLH. QSL via

16/09/2003:  John, G4IRN, will be active as FH/G4IRN from Mayotte Island
(IOTA AF-027, DIFO FH-001), September 16th to 23rd. Activity will be on 40
through 10 meters, mainly on CW, using only 100 watts into a vertical

16/09/2003:  Operators LA7QI and LA8AW will operate from Spitsbergen,
Svalbard (EU-026) as JW7QI and JW8AW, respectively, from September 16th to
22nd. Also, look for them to be in the SAC CW Contest as JW8D. QSLs for
JW7QI and JW8D are via LA7QI and JW8AW via LA8AW, bureau or direct.

18/09/2003:  Richard DJ4OI, Andy DL3GA, Markus DL1IAN and Joachim DF6IC plan
to be active from Tubuai, Austral Islands (IOTA OC-152, DIFO FO-126),
between September 18th and October 3rd. They plan to have two stations with
beams and linears and be active on 80 through 6 meters, including the WARC
bands on SSB, CW, RTTY and possibly the other digital modes. Their callsigns

18/09/2003:  Bert, PA3GIO, will be QRV September 18th to 28th from the QTH
of Ed, VP9GE, located in Hamilton, Bermuda (NA-005, Hamilton Parish, Grid

19/09/2003:  The QLF DX Team (LA5UKA, LA6MP, LA8AJA, LA8SDA and LA9VDA) will
be QRV as OJ0LA, September 19th through 26th, from Market Reef (EU-053) and
lighthouse (WLH LH-0542, ARLHS MAR-001, WW Loc. JP90nh). Lars, OH0RJ, will
join the team and will use the call OJ0RJ. Activity will be on all bands,
CW, SSB and RTTY, looking especially for NA and JA. Also planned is an entry
in the SAC CW contest with one station. Due to possible bad weather
conditions in the fall, they might use an expensive helicopter. They need
financial support for this. QSL for OJ0LA is via LA9VDA. For direct cards

20/09/2003:  Lutz, GM0GNY, writes that he will sign 4K0GNY from the drilling
platform Chirag-1 in the Caspian Sea (WW Loc. LN50oc) for 28 days starting
on August 20th. He will work in SSB and CW mainly on 40, 20 and 17m from

21/09/2003:  A group of Spanish operators will be active from Guadeloupe
(IOTA NA-102, DIFO FG-001) between September 23rd and October 9th. Activity
will include an entry in the CQWW RTTY Contest. Before and after the
contest, operators will be on SSB/RTTY/PSK31/SSTV. Operators will be EB2DTP,
EA2RU and EA2RY. Look for them to sign homecall/FG or FG/homecall. QSL via

22/09/2003: Phil, G3SWH, and his wife will fly to Ile Sainte Marie (IOTA
AF-090) on September 22nd and relax for a few days until the 27th. He will

24/09/2003:  Giovanni, IZ2DPX, will be QRV (mainly on 2 and 6 meters) as
IM0/IZ2DPX/P from Maddalena Island (EU-041, IIA SS-001) between September

25/09/2003:  The operators who activated OC-251 September 2002 and OC-261
April 2003 plan to activate OC-228, South Australia State East group, Baudin
Rocks (aka Godfrey Island) the last weekend in September, commencing
Thursday September 25th and concluding Monday September 29th. This will be a
special event, commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the death of Captain
Nicolas Baudin, the French explorer, who died in September 1803 on the
island of Mauritius during his return to Europe from exploration of the
Australian coastline. Baudin Rocks, which is located 8 kms north of the
seaport of Robe in south-eastern South Australia, was named by Captain
Matthew Flinders after his famous encounter with Baudin in 1802 off the
South Australian coast. Baudin Rocks is a closely protected Conservation
Park and finally a permit has been obtained for 4 operators to land and
operate for a limited period. Operating dates are much dependant on weather
conditions, which can be very unpredictable at this time of the year.
