He will start in the early morning but he is limited in time due to the trip which includes other travelers. So, check for him during the day as well. GJ35rg) on March 7th. They are in charge of setting up the equipment. The first QSO may be happen on the 7th in the evening. This activity will also count for the Phare de L'Ile Royale lighthouse (TWLHD FY-002, ARLHS FRG-002, WLOTA LH-0911).The second part of the crew (Frank F4AJQ, YL Jacquie F6EGG, Bruno F5AGB, Serge F6AML, and Mathieu F5PED) will be on Royale on the 10th. The team will pay attention on low bands, with a V80 and receiving loops. For the upper bands (including 6 meters), they hope for very good results thanks to the HM, F5VHQ's wire beam systems. They will be flying to the island about March 9th and be there until March 17th. The island is 71 miles north of Grayling and 70 miles south of Kaltag. Eagle Island is one of the checkpoints on the Iditarod trail. Current population (as I write) is zero, but should be about 7 when we get there. The river is frozen and temp can reach -70F. Look for them mostly on 3.920 MHz in the evenings; 7.240 MHz (when open) and they will try for 14.292 MHz during (Alaska) days. [Tnx F5NQL] ===================================================== LOOKING AHEAD - 15/03/2005: The Microlite Penguins DXpedition Team of VP8GEO (South Georgia) and VP8THU (South Sandwich Islands) fame will activate the Kerguelen Islands (IOTA AF-048, DIFO FT-011). A multinational team of twelve highly experienced operators from France, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Singapore, South Africa and the United States will operate on the HF bands between March 15 and April 2, 2005. "This DXpedition is funded entirely by the twelve team members and a generous and exclusive grant by the Northern California DX Foundation," said James Brooks, 9V1YC, DXpedition Team Leader.
