Rumours spread like wildfire, bad ones spread even faster!!
The suggestion that UK licences be totaslly abandoned was ONE of a number of alternatives put forward.
The RSGB are deeply involved and will certainly not back that one. An extension of time for licences will probably be the change they eventually make, in my opinion anyway.
Governments usually increase chanrges to combat their own inefficiencies, in this case we may be lucky - but they could charge more per licence pro-rata for the time they extend. NZ gov have already decided the amateur licences cost them more than its worth to collect the fee. So those lucky folk in ZL have a free licence, but regulations still apply. Here in VK we pay quite high for our licence, (A$60 approx) UK is �15 which is still good value as it was
