I had a 10 over 9 contact with VU2RBI, Bharathi, this evening Thailand time. She gleefully reports that the VU4 license permits are in her hand at that moment. A list of licensees is on the NIAR web site. So, dear DXers, it is gonna happen. A few days ago I also had a QSO with VU2MYH, one of the Hamfest organizers and a vet of Dec 04 VU4.

There are so many rumors flying.... Here are some thing I know from these sources:

1-- the power output will be some RF, enough to be heard just like Dec 2004.
2. Rigs can be taken in and taken out again.
3. Ops will be in several locations on the Port Blair island.
4. No Nicobar operations.
5. the permits/licenses are real
6. All licensed ops will have a VU mainland call sign and VU4AN/ will be the prefix for everyone.
7. Op duration is all 8 days.

It is not too late to fly on in.... do not know about late call sign applications. U need an India visa prior to entry anywhere in India. The special foreigner Andaman entry permit is given out upon arrival there

Prop to EU and even NA was GREAT here in HS land tonight from 1400 (wkd W3UR then) to 1530 Z and should be about the same for VU4 which is nearby/relatively. I am excited.

Charles Harpole VU4AN/VU3CHE wow!!!!! HS0ZCW
