4A, REVILLAGIGEDO (Update). The 4A4A team is now on the air as of March
3rd, from Socorro Island (NA-030) and is expected to be there until
March 20th. They will have 3 stations running simultaneously on CW, SSB
and RTTY, as conditions permits. Suggested operation frequencies are:

9A, CROATIA. Zrinko (Zik), DK8ZZ/VE3ZIK/YT3ZZ, will be once again active
from Croatia as 9A/VE3ZIK between March 13-30th. He also plans to be
active in the Russian DX Contest and CQ WPX SSB Contest. Zik also mentions
that there is a good chance he will be active from Vrana Lake (9AFF 019).

CQ PRESS RELEASE. Richard Moseson, W2VU, Editorial Director for CQ
Communications, Inc., reports on March 1st: "Richard Fisher, KI6SN,
Named Editor of Popular Communications -- Veteran journalist and writer
Richard Fisher, KI6SN, has been named Editor of Popular Communications
magazine, effective with the June 2011 issue, Publisher Richard Ross,
K2MGA, announced today. Fisher will succeed Edith Lennon, N2ZRW, who
is stepping down to pursue freelance editing and writing projects and
to work with a non-profit organization.
Lennon has been Editor of Popular Communications for the past four
years, solidifying the magazine's editorial content and reader appeal.
She has held a variety of positions with publisher CQ Communications,
including Editor of the company's Amateur Radio Equipment Buyer's Guides
and Radio magazine (a custom publishing project for RadioShack); and
Managing Editor of CQ VHF, Communications Quarterly and the CQ Amateur
Radio Almanac.
'Edith has been a tremendous asset to our company over the past two
decades with the energy and integrity she has brought to every project,'
said Ross. 'We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best in her
new endeavors. At the same time, I am looking forward to working even
more closely with Richard and gaining the additional benefits he will
bring from his extensive experience in print and online journalism.'
Fisher, of Riverside, California, will continue in his current position
as Editor of WorldRadio Online magazine and will continue to write his
current columns in Popular Communications, WorldRadio Online and CQ
magazines.
Fisher also manages three related Internet sites, including blog sites
for WorldRadio Online, his 'Trail-Friendly Radio' column in that magazine,
and his 'Public Service' column in CQ magazine. He is also an administrator
of the Facebook pages for all four CQ Communications publications.
He thanked Lennon for giving him a solid foundation on which to continue
building Popular Communications. 'Edith is a very talented editor with a
great news sense who surprises readers with every new edition,' he noted.
'She has led and developed a tremendous staff and has wonderful rapport
with the readers. The proof is the highly respected publication that Edith
passes to us to carry forward.'
Fisher's interest in radio spans more than 50 years. 'A Hallicrafters
S-38D multi-band receiver first opened the world of shortwave listening
to me in 1957 as a kid in Goose Bay, Labrador,' he said. 'I'm thrilled
beyond words with the opportunity to begin this new chapter in a life
that has been so enriched by radio and journalism.' Fisher begins his new
duties as Editor on March 7th.

CT8, AZORES. Operators Roger/G3SXW and Lionel/G5LP will be active as
CT8/homecall from San Miguel Island (EU-003) between March 16-17th.
The duo has rented accommodations in Ponta Delgada at a working farm
on the northside facing the coast and will have plenty of space for
wire antennas. This is expected to be a fun trip including culinary
pleasures, so they will be active for several hours each day using a
Elecraft K2 on CW only. QSL via their home callsign and LoTW.
CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update). After a few postponements, the DXpedition
to Sable Island (NA-063) is finally on the air and until March 15th.
Look for operators Randy/N0TG, Jeff/N1NSB and Wayne/K8LEE to be active
as homecall/CY0. They plan to run three stations simultaneously using
CW, SSB and RTTY on 160-6 meters. The suggested updated frequencies are:
CW - 1826, 3523, 7023, 10106, 14023, 18072, 21023, 24892 and 28023 kHz
SSB - 1841, 3780, 7140, 14170, 18120, 21275, 24960 and 28450 kHz

DX0, SPRATLY ISLANDS (DX0DX Update). Jim Linton/VK3PC, Public Affairs
for the DX0DX, reports (edited): "The DX0DX mission to the Spratly's has
been postponed to April 2012, following the initial expedition attempt
in January this year.
Team Leader Chris Dimitrijevic, VK3FY, said he was determined to recover
as much of the costs as possible to put things right for all the Team
members, sponsors, organizations and individuals involved.
'I have been thinking very long and hard about the Spratly's and to put
DX0DX off until next year will allow me time to clean up the situation
from the first attempt' (The DX entity was to have been activated from
6th January 2011 until 1st February 2011).
'It's better to concentrate on getting the best value for the assets
so that I can recover the best return for the operators', said Chris,
VK3FY.
'I will inform the DX Community and also the generous DX Foundations
of the decision.'
'But I need to put things right for the operators that put their faith
in me. That is of paramount importance at this time. Ongoing efforts are
being made towards selling the assets.'
April is by far the best month for a DX expedition to Thitu Island in
the Spratly's because the seas are far calmer for a sea voyage.
Apologies are made by Chris, VK3FY, to the DX community for the changes
that have been outside his control.
Earlier on it was announced that difficulties with logistics and customs
were the major problems, but were overcome.
Chris, VK3FY, has personally undertaken to post the contributions,
foundations, and costs on the DX0DX Yahoo group and to foundations by
Tuesday, 8th March 2011."

Bill Moore, NC1L, Awards Branch Manager, popped the cork on the champagne
today (alcohol-free, of course...) and we spent 3 minutes celebrating
the completion of 2010's DXCC processing and started-in on 2011.
The biggest changes include the deletions of the Netherlands Antilles
entities and the addition of the four new entities (PJ2, PJ4, PJ5/6, and
PJ7) to the system. It will take some time for all the changes to appear
throughout the system. Already you might notice that your current entity
totals have dropped because of the deletions. If you had both of the PJs
confirmed on 10 bands, you will see your current entity total drop by 20.
The PJ operations have already started obtaining their certificates and
will be entering their logs into LoTW shortly -- some may make it into
the system by 00Z on 4 March. Attention PJ stations: You must download
the new TQSL Configuration file before you can request a new certificate.
This download can be found under Your Account, and then Your Certificates.
Congratulations to all the DXers who now have credit for their first

Barthelemy (NA-146) between April 15-27th. Activity will be on all HF
bands, 160-10 meters and using CW only (on a lower edge of all bands).

meter season will finish soon, and it will be his last 160 meter season

as FP/W6HGF to Miquelon (NA-032) between March 14-22nd. Activity will be

HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (Update). Operators Yukon John/KL7JR and XYL
Claire/WL7MY are now active as HI3/KL7JR and HI3/WL7MY from Hispaniola
Island (NA-096) until June. Activity will be on 80-10 meters SSB using
several different wire antennas from their beach location. Main antenna

HR5, HONDURAS. Gerard F2JD will once again be active as HR5/F2JD from
Copna starting mid-March to mid-May. Activity will be on all HF bands

IOTA DXPEDITION 2011. Members of the MS0INT team are once again planning
IOTA DXpeditions to EU-010, EU-059 and EU-111. After the successful
activation of the dangerous and rare Flannan Isles (EU-118) in June
2010, the MS0INT team has re-grouped, re-organized and strengthened in
size for their next adventure. The team will once again be led by Col/
MM0NDX. The other 2011 IOTA team members includes the following highly
experienced island activators: Christian/EA3NT, Ramon/EA3OR, Raul/EA5KA,
Stan/EI6DX, Vincent/F4BKV and Simon/IZ7ATN. The tentative IOTAs to be

as 9K2F from Failaka Island until they leave on March 7th.

OC-091. Operators Ed/4F1OZ, Gus/4F1EAA, Nani/DU1COP and Gudo/4F3XX
will be active as DZ1P from Polillo Islands between March
11-13th. Also, operators Gil/4F2KWT and Frank/VE7DP will be
joining their operation. Plans of band and mode activities

OC-195. Operators Les/VK3MLM, Peter/VK3ADO, Mark/VK3FMGF, Lino/VK3EI,
Luke/VK3HJ and John/VK3DQ will be active as VK7DI from Deal
Island in the Furneaux IOTA Group between March 20-23rd.
Activity will be on the HF bands using CW, SSB and SSTV.
Their suggested frequencies are 3570, 7093 and 14195 kHz.
The team will operate from Garden Cove which is located on
the north side of Deal Island, and possibly have up to three
stations on the air using a number of batteries with both

OC-164. John, VK6HZ, will once again be visiting Rottnest Island this
year. Dates of operation will be March 20-27th. Operation will
be holiday style (he states "in between beer, swimming and,
of course, quality time with my family!). Activity will be on
40-10 meters with a focus on 17-10 meters CW and RTTY. Equipment
will be IC-7000 running 100w into a Buddipole. This year QSL

SA-029. Fred, PY2XB, will be active as PY2XB/1 from Grande Island
(DIB RJ-02, WLOTA 0795) until March 9th. Activity will be
holiday style on 40-10 meters, mainly CW and using 100 watts

PIRATE ALERT. The TJ9PF operation was over since February 20th. There
were reports of PIRATE activity on February 23rd (80/RTTY) and March
1st (CW 30m).
PJ7E QSL STATUS. Co-leaders Craig/K9CT and Joe/W8GEX report, "We are
doing very well getting out QSLs but still have about 5 mailing trays
to confirm yet. Tom, N4XP, our QSL Manager, expects to complete those
in the next three weeks. The OQSL will be shut down on March 4th. The
OQSL service has been a huge success with certificates issued with the
QSLs. All of the OQSLs received at this time have been mailed. ARRL has
announced that they will soon be issuing the LOTW certificates to the

invited to participate in the RTTY Most Wanted Survey 2011. This survey is
being conducted by Larry/K8UT and myself. Larry has graciously offered to
host the survey on the Southeast Michigan DX Association Web site. This
makes perfect sense since Larry already had the form created and ready to
go. This survey will be run for 3 weeks beginning now until midnight EST
Monday, March 20, 2011. The results of the survey will be announced when

T31, CENTRAL KIRIBATI (Update). The W8GEX (60m News) states: "It has
been reported by the T31A team that the T31A DXpedition is planning a
60m operation if things run as expected. Time permitting, and if antennas
can be properly placed so as to not interfere with other bands or take
away from significant QSO rates on other bands, they will TRY to activate
60m. CW and SSB positioning is carefully being planned, and 60m will be
squeezed in the site setups. Their sunset is 0548z and sunrise at 1736z."
An international team will activate T31A from Kanton Island (OC-043)
between April 17-28th. See OPDX.994 for more details. The T31A Web page

LAST MINUTE UPDATE: The T31A Web page states: "We delivered 6,981 pounds
of equipment to the shipping company near Long Beach, California, on
March 1st. We have 11 pallets of equipment being prepped for the sailing
date of March 12th. The shipment should arrive in Apia, Samoa, around
March 26th."
T6, AFGHANISTAN. Jim, WA2EWE, is currently active as T6AF from Kabul.
His length of stay not known. According to his QRZ.com page, Jim states,
"Almost every day, I operate at around 1230-1430z. Sometimes I am QRV
until around 1500z. On Thursday afternoon, sometimes, I am able to extend
the hours to 1100-1630z. Recently, I have been on the air on Fridays at
0130-0230z too. YP-3 is set up for 20 meters, aimed north; also work 15,
20, 30, and 40 meters on the dipole." QSL via LoTW or eQSL. Paper QSL
card Manager is via David, EB7DX (QSL Manager).
TO2, REUNION ISLAND. Olivier, F4FLF, will be active as TO2Z from Reunion
Island (AF-016) between April 9-22nd. Activity will be holiday style
with operations planned for every evening using SSB, PSK and RTTY. QSL
via his home callsign.
TP50, FRANCE. The "Council of Europe Radio Amateur Club" (CERAC - TP2CE)
will be active as TP50CE, March 11-13th and the 18th. Activity is to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of the European Social Charter. Operations
are usually on all HF bands and modes, including the satellites. QSL via
F5LGF. An online log search will be available at: http://ewwa.free.fr
ADDED NOTE: The CERAC will also be present at the "Ham Radio in Friedrich-
shaffen, June 24-25th. They will be checking the log for QSOs with TP2CE,
TP20CE, 3A0CE, 40OCE, TP60CE and TP50CE.
V2, ANTIGUA (Update). Three members of the Midwest 6 Meter DX Group will
operate holiday style from Antigua (NA-100, Grid Square FK97BD) between
June 14-28th. Operators mentioned are Dave/W9DR, Dave/K9UK and Tom/W9AEB.
Look for W9DR to be active as V25DR and concentrate on 6 meters SSB/CW
on 50.115 MHz. Look for K9UK to be active as V25DD and W9AEB as V25TP
and operate on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and PSK31. QSL via their home

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS. Craig, VE3OP, will be active as VP5/VE3OP between
March 9-18th. Activity will be on as many bands as possible using CW,
SSB, RTTY and PSK-31. QSL via his home calsign, direct or by the Bureau
and also LoTW and eQSL.
V4, ST.KITTS & NEVIS. Hal, K5MV, will be active as V4/K5MV from St. Kitts
(NA-104) between March 10-17th. Activity will be holiday style on 160-6
meters using CW and SSB. QSL via LoTW or direct to K5MV.
VP5/VQ5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Dave, W5CW, will once again be active
as VP5/W5CW from the VP5JM Hamlet on the Island of Providenciales (NA-002,
WLOTA 1476) between March 23rd and April 20th. Activity will be on 160-6
meters using CW and SSB. Dave also plans to be entries in the following
contests using the special callsign VQ51V: SP DX Contest (April 2-3rd),
JIDX CW Contest (April 9-10th) and the YU DX Contest (April 16-17th).

VQ9, CHAGOS ISLAND (QRT, For Now!). Jeremy, N1ZZZ/VQ9ZZ, reports, "As of
today, 5th March 2011, I will be leaving VQ9, leaving no active hams on
the island. I should be back in late June, but my schedule is apt to
change. So thanks to everyone who worked us over here, and hopefully we
will be back on the air in the summer....73."
XV4, VIETNAM. Yannick, XV4Y (ex-XV4TUJ), who is located in Mekong Delta
in southern Vietnam, has been on the air using his new callsign since
the beginning of March. According to QRZ.com, his main profession (with
his wife) is tourism in Vietnam and is now running a "Bed & Breakfast"
in the city of Can Tho, near the Cai Rang floating market. Since he runs
a business, his activity is limited to his free time. He suggests to look
for him in the early afternoon (0700-0900z) or evening (1330z-1500z), no
matter if it is a week day or weekend. Suggested frequencies are around
14276, 18126, 21312 or 7080 kHz. His antennas are: a ground plane for 20m
(also works on 17/15m), a 40m delta-loop (ok on 20m and 15m) and a sloper
for 30m listening. QSL Manager is OK1DOT, but please be patient because
