Guess I should not be doing email and posts with the Head Cold from
Hades....between that and the ZD7K frequency cops on 20 meters (talk about
overkill) I am kinda duffer-ish today. So, the software mentioned
previously is "On Top of the World Lite", without the typo. I still have a
version I downloaded nearly five years ago. It does not show the grayline
as well as Geoclock and other programs but it is great for quick access to
cities and countries and takes up little hard drive or resources. It is
not the same as an atlas or encyclopedia but the price is great! The first
URL below is that of the program's creator. The second sort of reviews the
program.

Also, another amateur passed this on to me as well:

"If you enjoy maps as much as I do, then you ought to look into the Encarta
Reference Suite. In this "Suite" of programs is one called "Virtual
Globe".
This is a world map and it is a super program for finding lot of
information
about the places you wish to locate. I bought the total "Suite" for
nothing.
I watched the newspapers and the ads and found Best Buy with the offer of
a
full price rebate.
This is a great program for locating all those DX places which we are lucky
enough to have made contacts."
