Gentlemen Carlos, 4W/CU3FT Tour-of-Duty in East-Timor has come to an end. Since 15th October 2001 Carlos was the "voice of East-Timor" in the HAM bands, yesterday was his last day of operations and today he has returned the antennas and tower back to the Military HQ. He was indeed operating with 100 watt and a Mil. antenna, spite he expected someone to donate a better antenna that never happened and he had no fancy sponsors. Under this conditions we all have to agree that he made an excellent effort, probably better than some of the others with donated gear by big HAM companies (gear that was supposed to belong to the East-Timor Amateur Radio Association, that is, to all HAMs in the Territory).
On the other hand Radio Clubs like the Chiltern DX Club, Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group and Northern Portugal DX Group sponsored the photo QSL card. CT1FMX antenna systems sponsored the 50 Mhz Beam antenna === Thank you ever so much === All in all the 3 Portuguese HAMs that were active from the Territory from the very since beginning until now (4W6EB, 4W6GH and 4W/CU3FT) made over 57.000 QSOs from East-Timor in all bands all modes, all with wire antennas (Delta-loops and Dipoles) and 100 watts (yes yes... no more Mr. Kilowatt, Hi!). All HAM licenses for this stations have been issued by United Nations New-York and all are credited for DXCC. Carlos is now waitting for his flight back home and should be in Lisbon by Monday next week. The country will declare full Independence in one month and probably the newly created Ministry of Comunications will take over the Licensing of HAM stations from the United Nations NY soon. Thank you all and 73, Jose CT1EEB, 4W6EB http://www.qsl.net/ct1eeb P.O.Box 79 P-3860 Estarreja Portugal ------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net/
