Title:
indicator-messages shows outstanding messages when none exist

Status in “indicator-messages” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
As per summary. The indicator is showing the little blue flag that
says I have new messages, when I don't. The only two active
applications on it, Thunderbird and xchat-gnome have nothing new.

To compound the problem, there's a terribly useful-looking "Clear"
option at the bottom of the indicator's menu... which is greyed out,
so I can't use it to clear the flag.

  Screenshot says it all...
