If you have indicator-power installed, you should see the option to configure whether it shows. [ Regression potential ] This adds some new code to check if the GSettings schema is installed, since that's a reliable way to check for indicator-power's presence, and is what the code modifies. It also makes the option appear in DEs other than Unity. There's a chance that the GSettings schema-detection work could be wrong.
