When I reported this bug I'd just had it with a prompt for an account password from e-d-s.

I couldn't type my password or interact with the indicators. gnome-screensaver just refuses to lock in this situation, perhaps unity could do the same unless it's possible to remove and readd the grabs yourself, but I don't think XLib lets you do that (you can only remove your own grabs AFAIK).
