Thank you for your bug report. That ticket is quite old and we didn't
get recent report of the problem, also it seems to work correctly now,
closing. Feel free to reopen if you can still reproduce it on any
supported version.

Title:
Desktop menu disappears after login - 12.04.2 LTS

Status in Unity:
  Fix Released
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I filed this sometime last year but it got labeled as a duplicate of the
Alt+F1 bug. It is not. Alt+F1 does not trigger this.
  Ubuntu 12.04.2
  Unity 5.2.0
After a user logins the "Ubuntu Desktop" label appears briefly and after a
few seconds vanishes and you have no desktop menu until you click on the
desktop. Alt+F1 has nothing to do with this. This was not the behavior from the
start when ubuntu was first installed. This was the result of another fix that
someone introduced sometime last year. This being s LTS release, it should be
put back to the normal behavior it was from the start. The user should not have
the desktop menu become unavailable several seconds after login and have to
click on the desktop to re-activate the desktop menu.
