Title:
  unity-2d has no --reset option

Status in unity-2d package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The existence of unity --reset is crucial, and the lack of it in
  unity-2d is a serious shortcoming.

Moreover, because unity-2d is silently substituted for unity if the
screen doesn't support 3d acceleration, we have users who do not even
know they are running unity-2d. (This is a tribute to the quality of
the unity-2d work, by the way, so congrats!)

That means that probably unity --reset should do it. But the bug here
is that unity-2d cannot be sanely recovered if one's configuration
  becomes corrupted.
