I mentioned this in another bug thread, but I believe this is the more appropriate one. I use randr to do multiple displays stacked vertically (to stay within my poor graphics card's limit of 2048x2048 for 3d acceleration). The primary display is my LCD screen, and the secondary display (placed above the primary) is a TV across the room for watching movies.
