That icon is actually the indicator-applet. Evolution has no control
over the position of that, and because it is a panel applet by design,
it won't appear in the notification area. You can drag the applet
anywhere you like with the mouse though.

Bug description:
Evolution in Ubuntu 9.04 puts it's notification icon - the little envelope - in 
the user's area of the panel, instead of in the notification area where it 
belongs.

See screenshot below - the vertical line is the lefthand edge of the 
notification area. Left of there is my panel - so what is Evo doing displacing 
my panel icons with it's notification icons?
