Subject: Risk zero....

Hello dx for winners,

Maybe i should go back to school, but not sure that
would be a sollution for my problem. Indeed communication protocols en
hardware change every day.... So far so good.
Who has some experience with USB to Seriel devices?
I would like to understand how USB manage the transfert to serial.
The goal, connect CAT of FT1000mp to my fast idiot (PC ).
Since all physical com ports are already in use. Is that small piece of
firmware present in the intelligent cable able to create a com port
independant of Windows, or should we free at least one irq so that USB can
create several virtuel comports?
Manufactor of the device just say there device installs a standard comport
with standard spec's. Since Windows support is virtuel in this case, its
possible some devices ( such as my CAT 1000mp) can not be managed by there
device.
How should i work, and what is a possible sollution ?

Thanks for any reaction.
