Laurence, I think I do something similiar. Although if I understand you correctly you are using both radio at the same time. I use different radios at different times with DX4Win. At first I had the same problem you do, editing preferences depending on radio. Eventually I set up 2 versions of DX4Win , depending on radio in use. I then open the proper version of DX4Win. I actually use a macro to open the version I need.
