You can reduce the number of 'active' fields, and hence tabbing, through the Preferences' menus, if you're prepared to accept the defaults for the 'not displayed' fields.
Ideally, a tool that allowed one to personalize the main QSO window, such as which fields are displayed, in what order, and the formats for those fields, would be address nearly everybody's 'complaints'. But... to incorporate such complexity (bug-free, of course), maintain it and troubleshoot the resulting myriad of possible user configurations would be a horrendous. Not impossible, but would probably entail more time/effort than the developers can devote to this product.
