Hi Everyone, I've been using Dx4win V6.02 for quite a while now on a Pentium II PC loaded with Windows XP Pro and everything was working fine. Then the PC motherboard died! So I had the chance to buy a dual pwntium III 600 MHz, 768 Meg of memory, 80 gig HD made by Dell for a good price. I loaded Windows XP Pro, Dx4win, and much of the rest of my normal software but a curious thing happened. Even though I had set the two internal com ports to be COM1 and COM2 (set them in bios) and checked them in Windows and all showed normal, I get an error when trying to slelect them in Dx4win. It says that the com port is already in use and I cannot access the radio. BTW, I am controlling a Kenwood TS-950SDX.
I uninstalled the ports in Windows, reinstalled them, rebooted numerous times, NADA. I tried using both ports to no avail. I tested the ports with a DOS based hardware tester and they were fine. I remember a lot of messages WAY back when about XP and the com ports but mine was working fine and didn't pay a lot of attention. But now it's my turn I guess... Was there a driver, configuration or something I missed?? Then I tried plugging in my Rigblaster to the other Com port and it is keying for no reason and not keying when it should. So the Com ports seem to be acting WIERD under this install of XP on a Dell. But God is this PC FAST!!!! :-) BTW, XP has been fully upgraded to the latest rev and all the patches applied from Microsoft. Other than Norton Internet Security - it is on a cable modem - nothing has been added that should affect this. This same configuration ran fine on the old PC. Well, after that long diatribe, anyone have any ideas?? thanks in advance for any help... 73, Tom W1TJL ===== Tom LeClerc, Amateur Radio Station W1TJL (past calls WB1CBY, /VE8, /VE1, /VO8) LeClerc Consulting email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] PC/Network Consulting __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
