Thanks to everybody who gave me ideas. To help others who might run into the same problem I give below the solution.
I copied the SAVE files as well as the DX4WIN.zip - and the SM0LZT.key files to a cd-disc and then installed the program on the laptop. Apparently all files in the SAVE-folder change their attributes to Read-only in this process using a cd-disc. When I un-checked this attribute everything was OK.
