First, I appreciate all of the responses. My system is Icom 756ProII, microHam box, dx4win set up. The radio is on and working fine, but the message Radio Timed Out comes up for no apparent reason. If I then check the microHam software, it is still reading the information from the radio just fine, frequency, mode. So it seems that it must be a problem with the dx4win software. I will check my setup again. Thanks for all the help. Larry Royster, ki4fyr. Oh forgot to say, if it wasn't clear tell DX4WIN which com port to use for PTT control under control in preferences then every where else point to PTT control not the com port it self -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John Shaw Sent: Tuesday, 7 March 2006 1:24 p.m. To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Dx4win] Thanks but no success Hi Lance, No expert here and none of the other replies were to the reflector so I don't know if I am repeating something already said. I was getting the same message as you, although my setup is simpler than yours. Only using one com port no rig control and spots done by telnet. Anyway I was getting the same error as you, couldn't figure it out till just recently I read in the help files under PTT delay "A zero value indicates that PTT keying is not used". Sure enough mine was set at zero, changed that and bingo now it all works fine. So now with one com port with some PTT delay I have CW keying on DTR, PTT control on RTS. Now I tell MTTY PTT is on PTT control same for PSK31 and CW keying. No more error messages just close one mode and open another bingo. Hope that helps. 73 John ZL1BYZ. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Lance Sent: Tuesday, 7 March 2006 10:06 a.m. To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Thanks but no success Thanks to all who replied to my original email. I have tried each and every suggestion but am still having the same problem. I would still like to solve the problem, as would 3 others who have the same problem and have asked for my help, when it is solved. 73, Lance WN0L ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Friday, March 03, 2006 7:58 AM Subject: DX4Win/MMTTY help I have been trying to set up DX4Win for RTTY and am having a problem! I have MMTTY set up and running fine. When I select the RTTY window in DX4Win, I can receive RTTY just fine. When I try to transmit, I get the followning error: An exception occured! ie_Open - device already open I have suspected it's a Com port problem, so have changed the Preferences so that only one Com port is accessed. I have four available Com ports and MMTTY is using Com4. Rig control is Com1, packet cluster tnc is Com2. Com3 is currently unused. Can someone on the reflector give me some guidance? I would really like to keep using DX4Win for all modes. I'm currently switching between MMTTY and manually entering all contacts in DX4Win.
