Dave and et all,

Thanks to all who had suggestions on how to add leading zeros to DX4WIN log
exports to Excel. Excel HELP and all logic dictates using the custom format
of 0000 should do it. But I think there is a problem as DX4WIN places a
colon (:) between the hours and minutes of the QSO time block so instead of
0019 it is 00:19 and Excel doesn't know how to handle it.
But Loren AD6ZJ came up with the solution as follows:

1) select column C (my column showing QSO time)
2) right click and select: Format Cells"
3) under Category select "custom"
4) You should see "h:mm;@" in the text box
5) Add an "h" in the front of the string so it looks like "hh:mm;@"
6) Click "OK"
Done.

This worked FB and converted all my times to a four digit time with leading
zeros where they were needed.

Thanks Dave,

Yes, that SHOULD work. That is what the HELP file tells me to do also. But
what happens it just changes all the times to 0000. I think the way the time
is downloaded from DX4WIN to excel may be the problem. It is downloaded with
a colon : such as 02:50. In the fx box it is shown as 2:50:00 AM. DX4WIN
logs the contacts time using a colon such as 22:56 and I don't see any way
to change that. You can re-format how the date is arranged but not the time.
I have attached my CQWWDXCW log in Excel workbook mode if you like a puzzle.
It is really no big deal, don't waste any time trying to figure it out, but
if you are curious of what I mean here it is.
Tnxs for the help and HNY

Your question is an easy one to answer Alan:

In Excel, Highlight the column you are interested in.
Do a RH Mouseclick on the column, select "Format Cells"
Select "Custom" ; you will see General showing as selected in the first item
on the list
Just over type this with "0000" ; and the job is done !

At times I download a DX4WIN generated log report, such as a contest, to an
Excel spreadsheet. This works FB for me except how do you get leading zeros
to appear in the time column. Example, I worked someone at 0005 GMT but only
a 5 shows up, 0045 GMT becomes 45 and 0655 becomes 655. If there are four
digits in the time such as 1745 GMT then the 1745 shows up FB. I am using
Office 2007 ver. of MS Excel. If I remember right I could easily add leading
zeros OK when I used Office ver. 2003 but can't figure it out for ver. 2007.
