My system remembers the last value that it was set to and always opens up at 
that speed. Come to think of it, I normally just have the keyboard open (it 
doesn't take up much space on the screen) but I just did a quick test and 
closed 
the window, then re-opened. When I did, it opened at the same speed (not 55WPM) 
as when I closed it.

Have you tried changing the speed, closing the window (or shutting down DX4WIN 
completely) then reopening? Are you using an external keyer? (I'm not, perhaps 
that makes a difference.)
