That's kind of the idea - not asking people to worry about strangely named
files like something.tq8.
The "File" menu of TQSL now has two entries for handling log files.
Sign and Upload allows you to supply an ADIF or CABRILLO log, sign it with
your call, location, etc, and directly upload it to Logbook of the World.
You're done at that point, other than waiting for QSLs to show up on LoTW.
The second entry, "Sign and Save", signs your log and creates a TQ8 file
that you can upload to Logbook at your convenience. That works the same way
it always did.
We need to allow both "Sign and Upload" and "Sign and Save" because not
everybody is connected to the Internet all of the time. If your logging
computer is online, use "Sign and Upload" - let the computer do the work!
The team working on improving TQSL is always looking for constructive
