Yes, I stand corrected concerning the USB-to-Parallel vs. USB-to-Serial mix-up. And yes the converters the RIGBlaster people sell are the Prolific chipset which did not work for me for even something as simple as having the PC read the rigs frequency with N1MM or WRITELOG. I was also told at Visalia not to try the Prolific chipset with HRD.

In 8+ years of supporting N1MM Logger, I saw literally a hundred people with Prolific adapters who had problems, versus ZERO with FTDI. Why mess around? 73, Pete N4ZR On 8/19/2013 7:24 AM, Jim - N4ST wrote: > Another vote for RT Systems. > Expensive, but fewer headaches. > Some foks have had success with less expensive converters based on the > Prolific chipset, but some counterfeit chips along with a plethora of > drivers and driver updates make these iffy in my book. > > 73, > Jim - N4ST > > -----Original Message----- > From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net > [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] > On Behalf Of ALAN ZACK > Sent: Monday, August 19, 2013 02:06 > To: 'David Strout'; 'DX4WIN Reflector' > Subject: Re: [Dx4win] USB to parallel port > > I have had good results with both the MFJ and RT Systems convertors, > both available thru HRO and AES.
