John, In my case, I am using RemoteRig boxes at both the remote and control sites. I have a Static IP at the remote site and I forward two or three ports that the two boxes use to communicate. I am not sure if I prioritized the port connections in the routers at each end. Will have to check. No, I do not have Wifi cameras and other equipment actively engaged at either end. No Wifi mouses/keyboard. (I use Bluetooth.) Not sure what you mean by backhaul distance. The remote site is about 10 miles from my home (control site). Latency is normally not an issue. I regularly operate major contests with full control of the remote K3 and all accessories. Audio streaming is normally excellent.
