The only thing that I can think of is that you're using a different font on your new machine -- or perhaps you'd installed a special all-caps font on your old machine. Also, I think some fonts might have a "small caps" option will will cause everything to be in caps, though "lower case" caps will be the upper-case version of the letter but smaller.
If you still have your old machine, go to File->Preferences then check the Screen tab and compare the settings. Is there a setting somewhere to change that? I looked in the Config file for a setting somewhere, but I didn't see one.
