For everyone's info, I now have most of the DXBase and Writelog issues
resolved.
The solution to the problem with WRITELOG was provided by John, WA9ALS, on
the Writelog reflector. Here is John's message:
Did you try setting the baud rate to 9600 in the program and in the
transceiver instead of either or both on automatic?
That works!
In Writelog, select Icom 756 Pro, 9600 baud, check poll, comm ptt (yes)
In DXBase, also select Icom 756 Pro and 9600 baud.
I believe that there is still an issue with VFO B. In DXBase, for example,
the frequency is not placed in the "Notes" section of the log. Someone has
said that has always been true with Icom radios. I don't know; until now, I
used a Kenwood TS-950SDX, and the "Notes" section of the log was populated
with the frequency of VFO B. Not a huge issue...
If anyone has any additional information on these issues, please share.
