Bill,

Office XP uses the Microsoft Jet Database Engine 4.x, and MS Access 2000
database structure. Simply installing it will cause no harm with DXbase
because the Microsoft Jet Database Engine 3.x will remain intact; however,
if you open your DXbase .mdb file(s) in Access 2000 and "save" them in an
Access 2000 format, they will NOT be useable in DXbase any more. I think
Access 2000 gives you an option to save as an Access 97 format, but not
sure. You can have Access 97 and Access 2000 both on your machine at the
same time, but there are some special procedures that you must follow in
order to accomplish this. I don't recall the URL, but there is a full
write-up about how to do this on the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

BTW, the Microsoft Knowledge Base also contains a lot of info about "bugs"
in the Microsoft Jet Database engine v4.x. Some of those bugs have a fix
and some don't.

Regards,
Courtney
