The issue is that if you enter CE directly in the "Summary" window the
summary table goes blank.  If you make CE and alias for CE then this window
acts as expected.  I have checked and if I enter CE9 in the summary window
it produces different results than if I enter CE.  However I can't be sure
there might be some unexpected side effects...which is what I am asking Jack
about.

You are correct that without the change that log entries work as
expected...the question relates only to the Summary window.
