The ICOM CT-17 only connects 3 wires, I don't think there is any handshaking
at all, software or hardware.

The descriptions in radios.ini have to insert enough delays so that the
radio doesn't get overrun.

Subject: [DXBase] Level converters for DXBase and ICOM 718

I'm interested in learning which aftermarket level converters are
successfully connecting ICOM radios, especially the 718, with DXBase.

I'm new to computer logging. I've learned that there are 3-wire software
only handshake converters, and 5-wire hardware handshake converters. I
think, but don't know, that the 5-wire converters will also do software
handshake. I suspect, but don't know, that the ICOM CT-17 converter is a
5-wire hardware handshake device.

I'd like to find a successful less expensive option. I plan a single
computer, single radio system. The CT-17 allows connection of up to 4
radios to a single computer. Most of the aftermarket designs I've learned
about are 3-wire for a single computer, single radio.

DXBase requires hardware handshaking I'm told (from Courtney).

Thanks for any advice or help.
