What exactly are you asking for when you say, "support USB"?  The ICOM 756
requires a serial interface as does nearly every amateur radio related
hardware device in use today?  The way you "support" using USB and still
communicate with a device that expects a serial port interface is by way of
a USB to serial port hub.  USB direct connects to a USB hardware device are
intended for high volume data transfer... megabytes of data being
transferred such as downloading digital pictures from a camera, or
interfacing with full motion video, graphics printers, etc...  To use an
entire USB port to occasionally transfer a 16 byte string to some amateur
radio device such as a radio would be a big waste which is why there are USB
to serial port devices manufactured so that you can obtain more production
from a single USB port.

Please elaborate on what you mean because I guess I'm missing something
here.
