Richard, The message you receive doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with your dxbase executable. It could be any of the Windows standard .dlls, system hardware, etc... If you have installed any programs recently, it could be that it overwrote some file incorrectly.
I recommend you save your .mdb to a safe place, then uninstall 2004 from control panel, use windows explorer to delete your dxb2004.ini file in your windows folder, and use windows explorer to delete your dxb2004 folder and everything in it. Reboot and turn off any other programs including anti-virus programs. Then reinstall dxbase 2004.
