Yes the K2 command set is based on the kenwood series, the best 'mach' being the ts570. However DXB2004 fully supports the K2 and the addition to the INI file to add K2 support to DXB2004 should work ok for DXB 2003 too.
The K2 command file works better the the kenwood files since it fully supports all DXbase features in relation to split operation etc. it's also much faster since the K2 does not need the commands slowed down to work reliably like many other radios.
